The Official Tourism Website for Shropshire

It simply wouldn’t be right to visit Shropshire and leave your best friend at home. With miles of footpaths, hills and woodland to explore, your dog will love Shropshire almost as much as you do. Go for a romp at Lyth Hill Countryside Site, the land that inspired Shropshire author Mary Webb, or take your pooch for a mooch around Ironbridge, the UNESCO-listed birthplace of the Industrial Revolution.

Shropshire has Forestry Commission sites, National Trust properties and English Heritage attractions, many of them welcoming to dogs (and their owners). Severn Valley Country Park is another dog-friendly Shropshire destination, as well as the old Racecourse Common in Oswestry, full of open space and delicious nature to sniff.

Plenty of Shropshire cafés and pubs allow diners to bring their dogs – though do phone ahead to check. And when night falls your dog can be as cosy as you, because many Shropshire accommodation providers cheerfully welcome pets. Again, ask in advance to ensure you secure a Shropshire cottage, B&B or hotel with dog-friendly rooms.

Where will you take your dog in Shropshire? Just as excitingly, where will your dog lead you?

"🏰✨ Dive into the heart of Shrewsbury's Castle Quarter – the epicenter of history and grandeur! 🏰 Home to four of the town's largest historic treasures – Shrewsbury Castle, Library, Prison, and Train Station.

Did you know Shrewsbury Castle's foundations were laid in 1083 by the 1st Earl of Shrewsbury, Roger de Montgomery?
Montgomery, a cousin of William the Conqueror, earned this castle and more as a thank-you for his aid during the Norman conquest.

From royal stronghold to a 16th-century transformation, Shrewsbury Castle has quite the story. Now, it stands majestically, housing the Shropshire Regimental Museum. 👑🏰 Ready to step into the pages of history?
