An abundant choice of activities in Shropshire means your visit can be as adventurous or as relaxing as you choose. Or a mixture of both, of course. For every visitor, every mood, every type of holiday, Shropshire has myriad activities to make your time here special. Explore Shropshire by leg power. We have seemingly infinite footpaths for walking, cycle paths for pedalling and wonderful bridleways for horseriding. It’s the perfect way to slow down and admire our county’s beauty up close, hedgerow by hedgerow. If you have young children, they may love meeting animals at one of Shropshire’s family-friendly farm parks. Or climbing a hill or exploring castle ruins. Shropshire is liberating and exhilarating for children: help them escape roads and crowds and let them discover true freedom. Shropshire outdoor leisure activities include mountain boarding, clay pigeon shooting, quad trekking, archery, climbing, paintballing and fishing. You can even glide over the Long Mynd in a two-seat glider. If you love to get out on water, try canoeing, rafting or stand-up paddleboarding on the stunning River Severn. For a more sedate experience, take a narrowboat out on our canals in north Shropshire.Shropshire is home to several highly regarded golf courses. One Shropshire golf course, in the Welsh Marches, features a hole where you can stand with one leg in England, the other in Wales. Now you know about activities in Shropshire, the only question is: which one will you do first?

Embark on an extraordinary half-term adventure at the enchanting Hawkstone Park Follies! 🌲✨
This hidden gem invites you to explore a sprawling landscape filled with magical surprises. Hawskstone Park Follies are offering 50% off general admission from February 9th to 18th, making it the perfect opportunity to uncover the mysteries that await.
Set in 100 acres of Parkland The Follies is a range of dramatic and rugged natural sandstone hills that were developed to include gullies, caves, towers and bridges, becoming one of the most visited landscapes in Britain during the 19th Century. However, throughout the 20th Century this romantic landscape became forgotten, overgrown and ruinous, unvisited by all but the locals.
Now recognised as a Masterpiece of the School of Naturalistic Landscape and designated as a Grade I listed landscape by English Heritage, this magical and exhilarating landscape had a new lease of life with a multi-million pound restoration project enabling it to reopen to visitors in 1993. Overgrown but never fully forgotten, pathways were cleared, gullies reopened and handrails reinstalled to allow visitors to enjoy the spectacular views and surprises that The Follies reveals around every corner.
Friends of the Follies can also enjoy special annual pass upgrade offers available at the gate, ensuring that the magic doesn`t end after one visit!
